Ras Mohammed…
is located in the very southern part of Sinai Peninsula, it is the tip of the Sinai triangle where the Gulf of Aqaba meets with the Gulf of Suez; a distinctive topographical location that drops down to over 1000 meters of depth.
Over there; strong unpredictable currents all year around, coming from all different directions, provides the coral reefs with all necessary nutrients and prevent sediments from slowing down coral growth.
It has become one of the most legendary dive sites in the whole world with its density and diversity of species.
In 1983 the Egyptian government declared Ras Mohammed as a nature reserve area by law 102 that was issued in the same year.
Over years, the national park boundaries has been extended further north to reach the straits of Tiran, and further more to reach Ras Abu Gallum protectorate in the northern part of Gulf of Aqaba.
